OUR FACILITY

Preferred Orthotic and Prosthetic Services consists of three patient care facilities in Tacoma, Federal Way and Puyallup. We also have an office in Aberdeen, but it is not staffed. Patients are seen in the Aberdeen office by appointment only. The other offices are open weekdays from 8 to 5.

Preferred O and P Services opened in 1995. Fred Cato, CPO and Karl Entenmann, CPO are the owners and operators of the business. Fred was a founding partner of Northwest Prosthetics in Tacoma in 1979 and served as Vice President until leaving and starting Preferred in July 1995. Karl worked for Fred at NW for 11 years before joining Fred to start Preferred. Fred and Karl have a combined 55 years of experience in the orthotic and prosthetic profession. Our goal is to provide only the highest level or care to allow our patients and clients to achieve their very best.

Our main office is in Tacoma and is located in the Cedar Medical Center near Allenmore Hospital. The Tacoma office consists of 3000 square feet of patient fitting rooms and a large mirrored prosthetic alignment room. The separate lab allows all aspects of prosthetic and orthotic fabrication and repair and is staffed by 3 full time prosthetic and orthotic technicians supporting the clinicians. Fred Cato, CPO, LPO and Doug Tyler, LP provide clinical care for all levels of orthotic and prosthetic needs. Besides seeing patients in the Tacoma facility, Fred and Doug also serve nearby hospitals and nursing homes.

Supporting the clinical staff are Dee Dee and Sharon who run the front office in Tacoma. Dee Dee has worked in prosthetic and orthotic office for the past 30 years. Robert, Rick and Sam are the technicians who produce the devices we provide. Robert has been a technician since 1985, and Rick is a graduate of the Spokane Falls Prosthetic and Orthotic Technician program.

Our Federal Way office was our first office. Karl opened this office in 1988 and it became Preferred O and P in 1995. Karl, Greg and Jeff provide patient care and Janet runs the front office, working with patients and insurance companies. The Federal Way office consists of spacious patient care rooms and a separate technical fabrication area. Parking is right outside the main entrance and the office is on the ground floor.

The new Puyallup O&P clinic is run by Michael Traub, CP, LPO, a state-licensed and board-certified provider of artificial limbs and braces. While primarily seeing patients in the Puyallup office, Michael also provides services to hospitals, nursing homes, and physicians’ offices--and he even makes occasional house calls. He’s also the orthotist for Good Samaritan's Children's Therapy Unit, developing unique bracing for kids with special needs.
